In this video we will examine who is the best king game of thrones has to offer.

  1. If but stannis and Remy would have taken katleen's advice and join forces.

  2. My problem with Renly is that he was arrogant self-entitled. And – as Catelyn named them – best described as a "Knight of Summer".

  3. "And Renly, that one, he's copper, bright and shiny, pretty to look at but not worth all that much at the end of the day." Renly would've made a garbage king, he knew how to look and talk, but that didn't make the prancing fool a king.

    thank you for this video.

Its so hard to explain to Jon lovers why he would be a horrible choice for a king. you explained it beautifully. you will be pissing people off though. For some reason Jon has become critique-proof to viewers :p

i think renly would have been the best king.

if cersei wasn't such a cunt, i think she would have been a great queen. she plays the game the best. she is also beautiful and would have helped her make alliances if she wasn't such a bitch

  5. Brienne of Tarth killed Stannis therefore has a claim to the Iron Throne, but I don't think she would be the best choice.
    I would go with Dani/Tyrion.

  6. djancak

damn you narrowed it down to the exact same two that i was torn between. pity that they couldn't have just worked together

  7. Stanis was the best by far. True warrior.

  8. I believe Jon Snow (or Stark now, bless him) is best suited as a squad leader, someone to take a small group of good people to win battles – not to rule as a king. Sansa is probably better suited for that position – or better yet, a player in the shadow like Littlefinger, just from the fact she's bitter enough.

  9. Jon would make a great King but he doubts himself and like his father (Uncle Ned) I don't think he really wants it. Renly was the most well rounded out of everyone but he wasn't around long enough. I'd have to pu my money on Rob. He was fine. He had respect, love, knew the politics and was good in battle and unlike Jon he owned that shit.

  10. cryan71

also, Renly makes a better king because he's hot.

  11. have you considered the fact that all these people you mentioned might be better at ruling one part of the seven kingdoms…like robb or jon would be best in the north but worse on the iron throne…renly best at stormsland and dany best in essos…without dragons or blood magic, no one will be able to unite the seven kingdoms…so seven independent kingdoms with seven independent kings better than one king/queen of the seven kingdoms in kingslanding..

  12. My top two options would be Stannis and Jon. Stannis while he will never have the love of the people especially after they would've heard about how he had his own daughter burned at the stake, he would've still down his very best to protect them and help them prosper why because he's driven by duty and not honor like the Starks. With Stannis that fine line between duty and honor is very important as a king of honor you will only seek out to do the honorable thing to protect the realm for example it was Ned's honor that made him want to keep Danny alive while a dutiful king knows the life of one dead teenage girl isn't more important than the entire country. As for Jon being King it would be much easier for him to be king even if (I highly doubt it) Jon doesn't get proper confirmation to universally recognize him as the son and heir of Rhaegar, being the bastard son of Lord Eddard Stark and former Lord Commander of the nights watch who won the battle against the Wildlings to protect the wall and then went to Hardhome and realized Westeros needs the Wildlings as allies against the others is a great starting point and a very important part of being a good King is starting off with the confidence of the people take the presidential election here in America for example in 2008 that campaign ran by President Obama of Hope and Change was perfect for majority of Americans while in present day whoever our next President will be is simply because the person on the other side is far to dangerous for our values or just simply can't be trusted. Jon may not have been groomed to rule Winterfell but as Lord Commander he was elected because he inspired confidence and is a pretty good battle commander, if the idiots at the Nightswatch only realized just how important saving the Wildlings were Ser Allister would've either not been stupid enough to kill him or would've been hanged immediately after. Jon Snow while traditionally honorable like a Stark we've seen him be dutiful before and do the right thing at the right time no matter the consequences as previously pointed out he saved the Wildlings, put Mance Raider out of his misery, choose to abandon the Nightswatch to go help his brother avenge his father.

  14. >Even considering Renly.
I bet you don't even worship the Lord of Light and Shadows, heretic.

  15. Joffrey is automatically the worst king. Unless we're going historical, then…nope, still Joffrey

  16. Mance is the best, as he was able to bring together all of the wildlings from about 90 different clans. Most of which were enemies of one another.

  17. Great thoughts! Right on the money. Although in Dany's favor, part of what makes a good leader is being able to hire the right people, listen to them, and delegate responsibility.

  18. best result would probably have been renly as king with stannis as hand. as king more fugurehead and hand the real power.
stannis would therefore still have been able to tackle the real threat and renly would have been happy to let robb rule in the North.
melisandre would have be gotten rid of though.

If think that Tommen would have made a good king, IF Tyrion hadn't killed Tywin. Tywin, given enough time, would have mentored Tommen to be hard and ruthless when necessary, but as Tommen was kind at heart he would have only be so when it was needed to further the common good.

  20. Not a king by any stretch, but by far the best ruler: Tyrion!

  21. Balon greyjoy was willing to go to war for his own kingdoms prosperity and independence. The kracken king was far better then all the rest.

  22. Little finger wanted suggested Renley over Stannis to Ned Stark, which makes me think he is easily manipulated.

  23. There sits the only king , the one true king of westeros : King Ragnar

  24. The best leaders are always the ones who dont want it. They do it because of circumstance which gives them a purity that allows them to make the best choice

  25. Stannis is the one true king!!!

  26. king Jeffrey over king Tommen all day. Tommen was a bitch in so many ways.

  27. Best king ever was Joffrey Baratheon that guy was really bringing peace to Westeros!

  28. Jon will be the best king because he made the most out of what he had. he was killed by a mutiny by men who did not consider a bastard to be a lord commander and broke barriers by becoming lord commender do you think if the Bear (Jeor Mormont) did what Jon did the offices would try a thing? you keep saying to be good at the game one has to mistrust everybody. Jon did not trust all his brother and the killer. Roose Bolton says it best if you act a mad dog you will be treated like a mad dog and butcher like one.

  29. if he decided how many would he have taken or started a war.

  30. stannis and Renly should have listened to catelyn's advice and join forces

  31. Renly might well have been a good king while he was alive. However, if he was unable to produce an heir (highly likely), he would pretty much guarantee another civil war upon his death.

Plus, for a good politician, he clearly had a blind spot when it came to Stannis. The right strategy, if you were Renly and Stannis comes and demands your loyalty as the younger brother, is (1) say "sure, brother, let's be at peace, you can be our king if I can be your Hand", (2) let him win the war and win the Iron Throne, (3) as Hand, make a decision that you know will anger Cersei and tell her that it was Stannis' decision, (4) once Cersei offs Stannis, take over, and as the loyal loving brother take revenge on your brother's killer.

  32. LVAV

Jon is not Robb's brother, people need to stop calling him Snow, call him Targaryen and if you don't believe he is a legitimate one call him Jon Sand.

  33. Ser Pounce is the rightful heir to the iron throne.

  34. szepi79

I would not choose the best ruler from these characters. In my opinion, the best COUPLE would be Jaime as king and Sansa as queen. (Dany would have been good as well, if she would have been still able to birth a child. That is her biggest flaw, which was not mentioned in the video)

Jaime for being the heir of one of the greatest houses and his ethics, and Sansa for getting 'into the game'. Plus, no else capable women are left in the show:
    – Arya is an assassin
    – the Tyrels are gone
    – the Tullys are gone
    – Dany cant have children
    – the Martels are gone, the Sand snakes are warriors
    – Brienne is a warrior
    – Asha (=Yara) is a warrior
    – Melissandre is a fanatic, cant be decided if she can have children, and cannot be trusted
    – Cersei is mad, and very likely to be killed soon, maybe be Jaime

No more women left to be queen.

  35. In my opinion all good presidents (except regan) were in the military. Just saying

  36. this video dealing with who is the "best" king/queen in "Game of Thrones is irrelevant. Talent, money, physical beauty, being liked, being disliked – NONE of this matters in terms of royal or noble succession – it is about one's birth. For instance, Ned Stark may be the embodiment of all things honorable, but the fact of the matter is that he attained his position as Lord of Winterfell & Warden of the North because of his birth, not his merits.

  37. In my opinion, you shouldn't shove Mance Rayder away all that easily. He was once of the Nights Watch, so he does know how politics and economics below the wall work. Aside from that, he had the ability to unite a scattered people, much the same as the Seven Kingdoms, with the only difference being that these rulers wore fancy clothing and had supposed manners that the Wildlings didn't have. The point I'm making here, is that uniting tribes is not that different from uniting nobles, since they're all humans with similar needs and motives. That's why you should rethink whether Mance wouldn't make such a great king, because I think he had possibly the most potential.

  38. Great video
Is there any video for "Who is the Best Hand of the King"?
I'd love to see a video comparing Ned, Tyrion, Davos, Tywin, Kevan and whoever is/was Hand of King Renly, Robb, Mance, Balon, Jon, etc.

  39. Hey, have you tried Westworld? Would love your take on the series so far!

  40. Enigma

I vote Joffrey, who dares to disagree :D
